This short lived perennial or biennial plant produces beautiful purple and white flower spikes which are highly attractive to bees and butterflies. It is a well known medicinal plant and is believed to relieve anxiety, help with insomnia, muscle cramps and many other uses. It is commonly grown now days for its essential oil.
